Poor Mummy is down and out ;o(

Am declaring off day today. Having mild cold symptoms, started with mild sore throat then bodyache and stuffy nose. As Sarah is still having mucous coming out from her nose when she sneezes, i think i better take all the precaution not to spread my bug to her.

No choice, took medication and is getting Auntie Ee to be fully in charge today. Auntie Ee started to bottle feed Sarah for the first time, hmm not bad for a start. As for the rest of the activities, she could do it independently already. So i will just express out my milk and throw them away for this whole day. Luckily, I still have stocks in the freezer; have been throwing a number of bottles away as they have expired. I typically stock up 20 bottles. Tried giving it to Ryan by mixing with his formular but he doesn't like it. Since i have been direct nursing Sarah, will just have to throw those extras away.

I hope that my supply can sustain when I start work else will just supplement with formular lah. Already bought it and wanted to try giving it to Sarah at night to see if this can prolong her feeding interval but think will just clear the stocks in freezer first.

Okie, i better get more rest to recover faster.

Adapting to a change

Well, this period is quite stressful for us as we have engaged a live-in helper. Purpose is to take care of Sarah and Ryan and will be supervised by grandma, po po when I start work.

We are all adjusting to the change in lifestyle with a stranger in the family; Auntie Ee, our helper. She came on Mar 17, totally inexperienced, 24 yrs old, pleasant looking and seems to be able to click well with children.

After 2 days of training, she is able to bathe Sarah, diaper change, dress her. Though not perfect, still acceptable. Sarah is still trying to get used to her and fuss at times as auntie is really slow hee. Auntie has quite abit of problem handling Ryan as he likes to throw tantrum.

I tried to be very patient to auntie as she is slow in picking up the chores, forgetful, operating the appliances etc. Her command of english is extremely poor too. Thus, i have to speak in broken english and talk with actions and even write down in simple words to let her understand what I am trying to convey.

I even gave her a set of house rules, time table, checklist and got the translator to translate them and I went through with her almost everyday.

I really hope that she can be independent after 1 mth of training. My friends told me that it normally take 1 mth. In that way, we would be able to spend quality time with the children.

If we have a choice, we rather not engaged a stay-in helper as I have to look after her welfare, ensure that she is feeling okay, supervise her closely; so tiring and troublesome. Having said that, its really not easy to handle the household for a working mother with 2 kids. No wonder, most people have to engage a helper.

So far, her performance has been okay and her attitude is good. Really hope that she will improve and not slacken particularly when I am starting work soon....

I have already stressed to her that her first priority is to take care of the children and housework is secondary as I know that she will not be able to multi-task and will be stressed out due to her different lifestyle back home.

Wish us good luck ;o)

Poor Sarah has running nose

Poor Sarah caught running nose from Ryan since last Sunday. Ryan caught flu again at childcare and developed mild fever. Previously, when Ryan had throat infection and dengue, I did really try to separate the both of them real hard. However, this time round, I just let things be as its so difficult for us to separate the both of them as we are staying in the same house. Poor Sarah really caught it this time.

We have brought her to the pd and she seems to be well after 1 day of medication. Few days later, I realized that there is still mucous coming out from her nose eventhough she has finished her medication. We then brought her to see the GP. Hope that she will recover soon else will have to defer her 3rd month jab. What puzzles me is that I am breastfeeding her and she supposed to have stronger immunity esp the 1st 6mths? Did ask both the pd and gp this question. They said that there are just 1000 over types of flu bug and breastfeeding is definitely not full proof. Moreover, Ryan is in the childcare and he is the carrier of virus too which can spread easily to Sarah. Well, this is just part of growing phase.

Wakeful Sarah

Sarah is a wakeful baby, doesn't like to nap; sign.... She is still waking up 3 hourly for her night feed, can you imagine??? ;o)

Sarah loves her drumstick

Aiyo, Sarah loves to suck her fingers. We've no choice but to give her pacifier instead. At least, we can still let her kick the habit out of her pacifier when she is older, if she is hooked on to sucking finger, it can be forever.
